Partington Family Practice

Open 8.00am to 6.30pm weekdays

Appointments

We run all our surgeries by an appointment-only system.

Routine appointments

Appointments are made by contacting our reception team either in person at the desk or via telephone 0161-775-7033. Patients are invited to call during our opening hours of 8am – 6.30pm. We offer both face-to-face and telephone consultations with our GP’s.

Patients will be seen by the next available GP. If you wish to see a specific GP, you may have to arrange an appointment further in advance.

If you cannot contact us via the telephone due to a communication need, appointments can be requested via Accurx: Contact us about your request (accurx.com)

Urgent, same-day appointments

Please aim to contact our reception team as soon as possible in the morning.

For appointments that are required for acute symptoms on a more urgent basis, we will have an on-call doctor each day to see these patients face to face. Patients are invited to telephone the surgery in the morning to arrange a same-day appointment.

The reception team will ask what your symptoms are if you are requesting a same-day appointment to ensure against red-flag symptoms such as chest pain, or symptoms which are more suited for treatment at alternative healthcare providers such as pharmacies or urgent care centres.

We will always aim to see unwell children on the same day. If a child becomes acutely unwell later in the day please contact our reception team and we will do our best to offer an appointment.

For same day appointments, patients will not get a choice in which GP they see unless there are extenuating circumstances for their GP choice.

Walk-in centre

If appointments are not available, you may also attend the walk-in centre at Trafford General Hospital. This is open every day from 08:00 until 20:00.

Home visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 11.00am. Home visits take up more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen.

Extended Access

We open once a month for Saturday appointments with our GP’s and Practice Nurse. GP appointments are pre-bookable via our reception team.

Our Nurse provides Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) and cervical screening on these Saturdays.

We offer late night pre-bookable appointments during the week every fortnight with one of our GP partners. These appointments are available during the hours of 6.30pm – 8pm.

Our Nursing team provide late night appointments once per week on Wednesdays until 7.30pm.

Appointment reminders

We have an SMS text reminder service to remind patients of their appointment details. If you would like to be included, please let the receptionist know your mobile number.

Cancellations

To cancel appointments please either respond to your text message appointment reminder or ring the surgery to enable the appointment to be used to benefit another patient.

Chaperone availability

If you wish to have a chaperone present with you at your appointment, please ask when you make the booking. Please see our: Chaperone policy
